“Lady Gaga has also sparked controversy over her strange requests on tour, one of them being that her dancers are banned from having sex during the tour because she wants them to ‘make love to her on stage’, the Daily Star Sunday reported.
‘She wants them to give 100 per cent on stage so she doesn’t want them wasting any energy on bedtime action’, a tour source told the newspaper.
And Gaga is definitely using the sexual tension to her advantage on stage – in some routines she pretends to have sex with a few of the dancers and wants them to look as real as possible.” Read More
On the Paris leg of her world tour Lady Gaga has been donning many Madonna-inspired outfits. Lady Gaga isn’t only looking like Madonna she is acting like her with her eccentric diva behavior.
Lady Gaga is a leader of a cult, and her devotees who call themselves “monsters”, dress like their idol, and obey her every command. Needless to say, they rail against infidels who criticize her music or her weird personality.
Like an deity worth his salt, Lady Gaga even controls the sex lives of her employees. Lady Gaga has banned her dancers from having sex during the tour because she wants them to focus all their energy on her.
I think Lady Gaga is an enormously talented entertainer, but I’m not going to give up sex for her or anybody else.
We must not lose sight of the fact that Lady Gaga is a marketing genius, the “no sex” command to her dancers is probably just a brilliant publicity stunt.
Rock on Lady Gaga, I’m not one of your monsters, but I give you my props.
Lady Gaga has admitted to some health problems in the last few months, including breathing difficulties, blurred vision, stress and headaches. Now she has undergone a test to find out if she has Lupus, a disease which causes the immune system to attach the body, a genetic disease that her aunt, Joanne died of when she was 19. Gaga told The British The Times:
“Yes (I have been tested). But I don’t want anyone to be worried… I have heart palpitations…but it’s OK. It’s just from fatigue and other things. I’m very connected to my aunt, Joanne, who died of lupus. It’s a very personal thing. I don’t want my fans to be worried about me.”
She also admits to being on prescriptive drugs to help her cope with the pressures of her fame:
“(I use) prescription medicine. I can’t control my thoughts at all. I’m tortured. But I like that… It’s good to be tortured. The thoughts are unstoppable – but so is the music. It comes to me constantly.”
Christina Aguilera says there’s no catfight between her and pop sensation Lady Gaga. In a new interview with Out magazine, Aguilera calls Gaga a “newcomer” and says she thinks she’s “really fun to look at.” And, earlier this week, she took to her Web site to dispel any rumors that there is a feud between the two. “It is very easy for comments to be taken out of context and create unnecessary drama – especially between us women,” she wrote. “So I would like to tell you all directly so my words can not be misconstrued to sell someone else’s story: I have absolutely nothing against Lady Gaga or any other female artist in this business.” She continues by praising Gaga. “I think she is great, and I appreciate any woman fearless enough to go against the norm. She has earned her success with hard work and a clear focus, and I have nothing but respect for that. There is room for all of us on everyone’s iPods.”
Over the course of the last 12 or so months, America has become infected with what can only be described as Lady Gaga Fever.
In 2009, the 23-year-old dance-pop diva-in-the-making scored two of iTunes’ 10 top-selling songs with “Poker Face” (No. 3) and “Just Dance” (No. 6), while her debut album, “The Fame,” ranked as the year’s third-best seller on the iTunes charts.
She’s also up for five awards at this month’s Grammys, including Album, Record and Song of the Year; and she won three awards at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, including Best New Artist.
But more than awards and accolades, Gaga has captivated the music world by getting people to talk — about her outrageous sense of style, her over-the-top performances and yes, her music. That avalanche of buzz led to her selling out two shows at Detroit’s Fox Theatre which, due to production concerns, were shuffled to Joe Louis Arena.
We, too, have found ourselves coming under a spell of Lady Gaga fever, which is less deadly than the swine flu but just as contagious.
As best as we can tell, it hits in five stages, which we’ve detailed here. Consider the following information a guide to help you identify what stage you’re in, and to see where you’re soon headed:
1. Confusion
The first thing you tend to ask when you are confronted with the artist born Stefani Germanotta is who or what is a Lady Gaga?
It’s a lot to take at first, and anyone who sees the native New Yorker wearing an outfit made of bubbles or dressed head to toe — literally, head to toe — in red lace might simply shake their head in bewilderment. Her look is confrontational, and she’s not carved out of the same supermodels-as-singers mold as the Beyoncés, Britneys and Christinas of the world. And what’s with that name — Gaga? What does that even mean? This mystified state then leads to …
2. Dismissal
The jaded music fan is quick to write off Gaga as all style, no substance. She needs to wear those outfits to make people talk! She needs to create controversy to overshadow the fact her songs are idiotic dance-pop trifles! (Similar criticisms have belied Gaga’s forebears, including Madonna.)
You see the existence and popularity of Gaga as an affront to your esteemed, finely honed musical tastes. Yet as soon as you become indignant enough to say she epitomizes everything that’s wrong with music today, you’ve already fallen into her vortex. Because soon that dismissal leads to …
3. Curiosity
You simply can’t believe how far she goes in some of those live performances, whether she’s staging her own assassination at the MTV Video Music Awards (complete with copious amounts of fake blood) or breaking bottles over a piano at the American Music Awards, so you seek out more examples to build your case against her. (That’s what YouTube is for, isn’t it?) And suddenly you start to realize, hey, those songs you first sloughed off aren’t so bad after all.
Take “Poker Face,” which on the surface is another in a long line of empty, synth-laden club tracks, but in actuality is a bi-curious lament about pining after women when you’re with a man, or vice versa. Or “Paparazzi,” a love song wrapped in a metaphor for our fame-obsessed, celebrity-driven times, with the relationship in the song mirroring the paparazzi/star dynamic.
In short, they’re smart — plus they’re amazingly catchy. A few spins of either and they’ll be stuck in your head, rattling around your brain, until you realize you don’t really mind so much anymore. Your defenses are starting to fall. Your Gaga curiosity has now led to …
4. Acceptance
You download “Poker Face” and probably “Bad Romance,” too, and come to grips with the fact they’re really good pop songs. And when you overhear others who are in the Confusion or Dismissal phases of Lady Gaga Fever, you find yourself defending her, and arguing how you were once there, too, but have overcome your initial doubts and turned into a fan. Heck, maybe you even bought a ticket to one of her concerts. You then recognize your acceptance has lead to …
5. Obsession
Gaga has got you in her trap, and there’s nothing to feel ashamed about. She is an ambitious performance artist with a striking visual style and an image that is totally of her own volition. She writes her own hits, and is not a product of some Swedish pop conglomeration with nefarious plans of world domination. She’s in-your-face and provocative, she demands attention and earns the strong response she gets from people. She’s a risk-taker.
Yes, Gaga is a confluence of her influences, a direct descendant of David Bowie, Madonna, Liberace, “Project Runway” and Us Weekly. But apart from that, she’s an original.
So if there’s a cure for Lady Gaga Fever, keep it, we’re not interested. This romance is so bad it’s good.
According to pop music blog Neon Limelight, alternative pop singer Kerli has called out Lady GaGa after she was spotted out recently performing with yellow hair — a look that Kerli claims she did first.
“It’s kinda f*cking funny that Lady Gaga ALSO has yellow hair now,” a yellow-haired Kerli said on her Twitter page. “I wish she would f*cking stop ripping off everything I do. F*cking b*tch.”
After this mornings drama went down Kerli took to Ustream to apologize for her actions, but she still stuck by her point.
So this morning I was reading the news and I saw that Lady GaGa also had yellow hair, and I’ve been doing so much to not look anything like her, and I feel like everything I do she’ll do two weeks later. I feel like I’m starting my next album cycle and I’m trying to look different so I wouldn’t get these comparisons, but it’s like every time I do something different and post the picture up on MySpace she’s also looking that way in two weeks time.
No disrespect because the thing she does visually and her styling… and she’s best friends with Alexander McQueen obviously I’m not competing with that, obviously I’m not competing with four number one hits. I’ve never really said anything in a pissed off kind of way because I didn’t wanna be that person who was like a nobody and was like screaming when somebody else was standing on top of the mountain and ruling the world, I’m nobody to talk, but this morning I was like…
I know she knows who I am and I’m good friends with some of the members of her team and it’s just a little much that I’m trying so hard to not look anything like her and she’ll just end up looking like me anyways so I just lost it for a second and called her a bitch and it was really immature of me and I know the world will take it in a completely wrong way because she’s on top and I’m not.
Some of these things I’ve been like “it’s a coincidence it’s a coincidence it’s a coincidence” , and then I’m like “you know what, this is not a coincidence anymore”, and obviously she’s taking her visuals to a next level because she’s got all this money behind her… Her fans come at me like I’m the copycat, I’m just tired and that’s the reason why I said it. Nobody knows who I am and she’s so big and I’ll just come across as some idiot who imagines these things, but me and everybody who’s been watching my career since I started know that I’m right.
Kerli also mentioned that she’s a fan of GaGa and her talent, and that the two met several times before GaGa was famous.
What do you think about the situation? Team Kerli or Team GaGa, or is it all just a big misunderstanding?
Kid Cudi — the guy who sings that “Day ‘N Nite” song — has been officially dropped from the Lady Gaga tour in the wake of a brutal fan-punching incident.
Sources at Interscope Records confirm the rapper is “no longer” with the tour — but wouldn’t say if the decision had anything to do with YouTube footage showing Cudi punching fans in the front row of a concert in Vancouver this past weekend.
We’re told Jason Derulo – the guy who sings “Whatcha Say” — will move up from his spot as Gaga’s opening act to fill Cudi’s spot … no word on who will fill-in Derulo’s.
We all know that Godga performed for the queen with a few other performers, but I think the most exciting thing from that night was when my two idols, Miley Cyrus and Gaga met. Its like my wet dream come true!
Although Miley Cyrus got to perform for Her Royal Highness the Queen of England, she was actually more excited about meeting the current Queen of Pop, Lady Gaga.
On Monday (December 7), Miley, wearing a low-cut orange gown, attended the Royal Variety Show in Blackpool, England, where she performed her hit, “Party in the U.S.A.,” shaking hands with the Queen afterward. However, according to Popeater, the “Hannah Montana” star later took to her blog and, overlooking the Queen meeting, talked about how excited she was to meet Gaga.
“I met Lady Gaga!!!” she wrote on the site more than 50 times. According to the Daily Mail, Miley took to the stage in hot pants and motorcycle boots to sing her hit song. It was a look similar to the one she wore on the Teen ChoiceAwards, minus the now-infamous pole.
Cyrus was one of many performers at the show, which benefited the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund. Other performers included Lady Gaga, Michael Bublé, Mika and Bette Midler. Gaga took the stage in a red, Elizabethan-style gown made of PVC for her song “Speechless.” She performed sitting in a high swing with her piano suspended on stilts.
Gaga tweeted about the event, saying, “Nothin like a whiskey, fish + chips in the UK to prepare for the Queen,” later adding, “Xfactor, jingleball, the queen and royal variety. I will brave another 24 hrs in these heels and dress, because my monsters [fans] would want me to.”
Hopefully the two meet again in the future, seeing as Gaga’s little sister is a big Miley fan.
Lady Gaga will appear on the cover of the January 2010 issue of Elle Magazine. This is a double Issue with the legendary Britney Spears on the other cover. Here are the photos and a Behind The Scenes video. The issue hits news stands December 15th.
